Advanced scoring of sleep data
Jagošová, Petra ; Novotná, Petra (referee) ; Ronzhina, Marina (advisor)
The master´s thesis is focused on advanced scoring of sleep data, which was performed using deep neural network. Heart rate data and the movement information were used for scoring measured using an Apple Watch smartwatch. After appropriate pre-processing, this data serves as input parameters to the designed networks. The goal of the LSTM network was to classify data into either two groups for sleep and wake or into three groups for wake, Non-REM and REM. The best results were achieved by network doing classification of sleep vs. wake using the accelerometer. The statistical evaluation of this best-designed network reached the values of sensitivity 71,06 %, specificity 57,05 %, accuracy 70,01 % and F1 score 81,42 %.
Open-wheel aerodynamics
Babinec, Viktor ; Vančura, Jan (referee) ; Čavoj, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelors thesis is focused on review of the aerodynamic charakteristics of the rotating wheels for formula cars. This paper describes the nature, origin and development of flow structures in the wheel area, affecting other parts of the vehicle. To create a holistic view of the aerodynamic charakteristics of the wheel, it is necesary to include impacts on changing wheel geometry while driving, which significantly changes the nature of the flow. Among the observed effects include deformation of the wheel, its camber, yaw and axle height.
Wake Behind a Cylinder: An Overview of Spatio-Temporal Aspects
Uruba, Václav
A circular cylinder in crossflow is subjected to the overview study from the point of view spatial and temporal characteristics. It represents itself a typical engineering problem, appearing in practice frequently in various forms. In fluid mechanics, this case is considered to be a typical canonical case, with relatively simple and straightforward definition, but complex and dynamical flow topology. The typical dynamics is characterized by quasi-periodic behavior called von Kármán – Bénard vortex street with a typical frequency expressed in dimensionless number called Strouhal number. The wake flow structure is considered to be characterized by a single frequency and 2D topology, homogeneous along the cylinder axis, very often. The presented paper concentrates on differences between this commonly accepted model and physical reality. Both temporal and spatial aspects of the flow in the wake behind a cylinder are to be addressed. The turbulent subcritical wake characterized by Reynolds number about 5 thousand will be considered, as this situation is a typical case in mechanical engineering applications.
On Harmonic Content of the Wake Behind a Circular Cylinder
Uruba, Václav ; Procházka, Pavel P.
The wake behind cylinder of circular cross-section is subjected to detailed analysis from the point of view harmonic content. The basic, fundamental frequency could be linked to well-known Bénard-von Kámán vortex street, it is called Strouhal frequency very often. However higher harmonics of 2nd and 3rd order have been detected, as well as important inharmonic partials. The topologies of the velocity flow-field corresponding to the harmonic is to be shown.

On the 3D Dynamics of the Wake Behind a Circular Cylinder
Uruba, Václav ; Procházka, Pavel P. ; Skála, Vladislav
Flow in the wake of a circular cylinder is studied experimentally using time-resolved stereo PIV method. Special attention is paid to 3D topology of dynamical structures. While the distribution of statistic quantities along the cylinder is uniform, and i.e. 2D, the instantaneous flow structure is fully 3D. Within the velocity fluctuating flow field the structures containing streamwise vorticity and velocity components are dominant. The POD modes connected with von Kármán vortex street are identified.
Structure of the Wake Behind an Airfoil
Uruba, Václav ; Procházka, Pavel P. ; Skála, Vladislav
The wake behind an inclined plate simulating airfoil is to be studied experimentally. The vortical structures are identified eventually. Theirs topology and dynamical behaviour is to be studied in details using the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition method. The stereo time resolved Particle Image Velocimetry technique is used for the experimental research. The vortex trains with oblique orientation and chequered topology have been detected.
On stability of 2D flow-field
Uruba, Václav
Stability of a 2D flow-field generated under 2D boundary conditions will be analyzed using various methods. The most practical cases of such flows are found to be highly instable and thus unphysical. The presented paper analyses the situation with help of experiments and mathematical modelling from literature defining an interesting areas for future experimental research, which could extend the published experimental studies and/or verify some recent results of mathematical modelling.

Experimental Investigation of The Flow Pattern Behind Cylinder
Vítkovičová, R. ; Skála, Vladislav ; Čížek, J.
Investigation of the flow behind bluff bodies, especially for cylinder, is one of the highly topical research topics in the fluid mechanics. Nevertheless, mainly because of its complexity, this topic is still an open problem. This article discusses the running project at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and it deal with the implementation of a methodology for measuring the cylinder wake in a wind tunnel and also recapitulates the partial results obtained measurements.
